Description
  • From the car park the path leads up the drive to the windmill, so you must choose whether to visit the mill before or after your stroll.  The walk takes you to Gallows Hill, a spot where sheep stealers were allegedly hanged during Charles II's reign.
  • After passing the cemetery, return along the Main Street and Beverley Road to the Mill.

Features of Interest
- Built in 1821, the windmill still grinds wholemeal flour, so if you time your visit well you can watch the process. There is also a museum showing milling tools, agricultural implements and models of mills.

Additional Information
The Wolds are the 'breadbasket' of Yorkshire and in the 19th century over 200 corn windmills dominated the landscape. Today Skidby is the sole working survivor.
