Distance (Miles)
Distance (Kilometres)
  • Walk behind All Saints church to the green and head uphill along Spring Road, past the secondary school.
  • Go straight on along the lane which is parallel to the old railway.  You soon enter Goodmanham Dale.  Pass the pumping station and at the road junction take the path up the grassy hill (signed Wolds Way).
  • Walk along the field edge path (enjoying views across Goodmanham Wold as you go), and you will eventually reach Arras Farm.  Pass between the farm buildings and emerge at the crossroads on the A1079.
  • Cross with great care and walk towards Arras Wold.  Take the public footpath on the right and descend through the dale into Sancton.
  • Turn right and follow the road back to Market Weighton.  (At this point you may prefer to take the 'scenic route' back by leaving the road at the public footpath sign and following the 'Roman Road' to Market Weighton via the secondary school.)
  • You are advised to confirm opening times and availability of pubs, shops and public toilets before setting off in case of recent changes.
