Further Information
Features of Interest
-  At Pocklington Canal there are five locks within a distance of 1 1/2 miles.  Silburn, Giles and Sandhill locks are just three of those illustrated on the notice board.  There are also simple illustrations of the wildlife and plant species to be found.  Pipistrelle bats, spotted burnet moths, meadow rue and redshank can all be seen along the path.
Accessibility Information
This route:-

-  is relatively flat.

-  contains kissing gates and hand gates but no stiles.

-  crosses at least one road.
Additional Information
-  The British Waterways Board has opened the towpath for public access and the Pocklington Canal Amenity Society is improving facilities in the area.

- For those travelling by bus it is best to start the walk in Pocklington at the cemetary

-  Hopefully at East Cottingwith a path will one day link the lock and the riverbank, but at present there is no legal access between them.

-  When you reach the end of the route, turn around and retrace your steps back to the start.
