  • Your walk starts at the northern end of the town and can be as short or long as you like.
  • You may want to stroll across the pasture land towards Kilnwick Percy, or to wander past the woods to Wood House like many of the locals.
  • On the walk you pass Kilnwick Percy Hall, now a Buddhist centre.  After this, you take a minor road, and then follow a section of the "Yorkshire Wolds Way" (with its distinctive acorn waymarks) to Warren Farm.  It is here that you obtain magnificent views of the Vale of York.  Can you see York Minster?
  • Descend the steep hill to the unspoilt village of Millington.  You can enjoy refreshments at the village inn (not open weekday lunchtimes).
  • To return to Pocklington take a minor road, then track and headlands past Mill Farm.  Next follow a minor road and farm track to Wood House.  From here enjoy a very pleasant stroll past Pocklington Wood back into the town.  Along the way you may see gliders from Pocklington airfield soaring on the warm thermal currents high above the Wolds.

Features of Interest
- Pocklington is a small yet busy market town with an old-fashioned atmosphere. A wander around the streets, especially on market day, will reveal the friendliness of the local people. The town boasts several attractions including Burnby Hall gardens, which contain the finest collection of water lilies in Europe, and Pocklington School, founded in 1514 and once attended by William Wilberforce.

- Millington is one of the many Wolds villages that can only be appreciated on foot. The small cottages with their well-kept gardens can be seen and if you meet anyone, stop and talk to them. It won't be long before they explain the character of the area and when they had to walk to school in Pocklington along the paths you are now walking on.

- As on all walks, take your time, enjoy your stroll and respect the wildlife in the area.
