Description
  • From the green centre of Bishop Wilton take the Pocklington road southward.  Next follow a signed public path uphill to the little village of Great Givendale (visit the tiny church of St. Ethelburga if you have time).
  • Head south along the road for a short distance and then turn right into a wooded path.  After a while pass through a gap in the hedge on your left to enter into a wide arable field.  Follow the field edge path in a southwesterly direction until you can take a second path branching off to the right into an open access area.  The view over the Vale of York is stunning on a clear day.
  • Take the path downhill and at the bottom cross into the next field on your left and head southward to the road.  Follow the road through Meltonby.  (At this point you can choose to take the short cut - see the map).  Next take the lane to Yapham.  From Yapham follow the path at Mill Farm northward.
  • After about ½ mile (1 kilometre) you will reach Bishop Wilton Beck.  Follow the beckside path back to your starting point.
