Description
  • Start from the car park/picnic area by the old stone bridge.
  • Walk past the shops in the Square and into the public footpath around the former Cornmill (now converted into luxury apartments).
  • Behind the building, in the far left-hand corner of the yard, a gate gives access to a narrow path along the riverbank.
  • Now it's a simple matter of following the path for 3 miles to Buttercrambe Bridge and the delightful watermill set amongst the trees.
  • To return to the start retrace your steps to Stamford Bridge.

Features of Interest
The former Cornmill in Stamford Bridge is now converted into luxury apartments, and the watermill near Buttercrambe Bridge is a lovely building - making a typical English calendar scene.  Both are are signs of a lost industry.
