Description
  • Starting from Wayrham picnic area off the A166, walk up the minor road towards Huggate for 50 yards, then enter the public footpath through a small wood and into a grass field.
  • Follow the path to a one-time Roman road called The Bence  and just before you reach High Callis Wold Farm turn right, along a public footpath.  This will take you down into Deep Dale and eventually up again to Beacon Road on Bishop Wilton Road.
  • Straight across the road and to the right alongside Worsen Dale to the A166 at Garrowby Top.  Cross the fast road with care and head down the track over Cheesecake Wold (why that name?)
  • Turn right just after Megdale Plantation, to Painsthorpe, and the lane beyond it.  Arriving again at the Roman road turn left for a short distance and then leave it at Painsthorpe Wold Farm along a bridleway.
  • Turn left at the road and follow the path through Worm Dale, turning right at Thixen Dale, to walk through Bradeham Dale and Wayrham Dale to return to the picnic area.
