We may disclose your information to others, but only where this is necessary either to comply with our legal obligations or as permitted by Data Protection legislation. We may share it with other public service bodies including enforcement agencies and the police. We may also engage the services of professional planning consultants and external planning companies to assist us in our ongoing projects and workloads.
The reasons why we may share your data with other public bodies or third-party consultants and companies are as follows:
- To improve our understanding of your needs to enable us to inform you of other relevant services
- To monitor and improve our performance and delivery of services
- For application consultation purposes, in order to progress applications
- For the prevention and or detection of crime
- Where necessary to protect individuals from the risk of harm or injury
- Where otherwise permitted under the General Data Protection legislation.
To allow the council to communicate and provide services appropriate to your needs, we may also share your information internally with our building control services team who may contact you in order to promote their building regulation services.
We will only disclose your sensitive or confidential information to a third party if we are legally required to do so, or where we have good reason to believe that failing to share the information would put you or someone else at risk of harm.
We will not pass your personal information to external organisations for marketing or sales purposes or for any commercial use without your prior expressed consent.
Planning applications are published on the council’s website so that the public and any interested parties can comment on the proposals. We will redact personal signatures, e-mail addresses and phone numbers before publication.
Advice is provided on the council’s website as to when information supporting a planning application can be regarded as confidential and therefore not published.
Pre-application advice will be considered as confidential unless, and until, a planning application is submitted.
Comments will be published on the Public Access website and will be open for viewing by members of the public. We will publish your name, address and comment only. Your email address and telephone number will automatically be excluded from publishing if you submit your comment via Public Access. If you submit comments by any other means, redaction will be applied (blanking out or obscuring from public view) to email addresses, telephone numbers and signatures.
